vfb Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 Hi! I am hoping that I can get some advice to avoid a trip to the garage for what seems simple. I have very limited knowledge but am willing to follow instructions :) So, here's what I know. The passenger side rear turn signal doesn't blink. The passenger front signal light comes on but stays steady. The driver’s side works and blinks fine, front and back. Hazards blink for the other three, but the rear passenger side doesn't. I changed the bulb and also swapped the hazard flasher for the turn flasher but no change. Then I tried a turn flasher from another Jeep. None of the flashers were new, but they all had the same results. Also, when I turn on the parking lights, that bulb will glow (one filament). That's about as far as I can go by myself :(Any suggestions? Thanks
64 Cheyenne Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 Replace the front turn signal sockets, replacement can be had from the help section of many auto parts stores. The front sockets corrode internally causing weird ground paths and other turn signal issues, replacing mine solved weak illumination, slow blink etc.
vfb Posted August 15, 2016 Author Posted August 15, 2016 Is there a way to tell which one is bad? And, should I be replacing the rear ones too?
sinkrun Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 IN a pinch you could try running a separate ground wire from the socket to the sheet metal somewhere on the body it worked for me before, just do them both.
64 Cheyenne Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 Is there a way to tell which one is bad? And, should I be replacing the rear ones too? I'd replace both front ones, kind of like fixing "one" brake, and no you don't have to replace the rears, just insure the ground is good behind the left rear tail light.
vfb Posted August 16, 2016 Author Posted August 16, 2016 Thanks. Just finished refreshing the main ground (no change) and will get some new sockets for the front.
