1988 Comanche refresh

Recommended Posts

This was about 4 years ago when we brought home this 1988 Comanche. Needed a few things like an alternator, tune up and a bit of TLC.

tossed on some Rubi wheels and new rubber to make a nice little DD street truck.

Then one joyous day some M-F'In Prius hit me,....

Then unfortunately it Sat,... for almost 3 years,...

Then I got bored and had idle hands; I have lifted, linked, chopped done all this crap with Jeeps so why not lower one. Read a few thread on here and got to it

Mocked up some 3" blocks and XJ shackles in the rear, ZJ coils up front.

and the result!

Now to correct the steering geometry and clearance so the suspension has some up travel :)

Looks good, I should copy that LOL. Are you going to put the flares back on and do you think they'll rub if you do? I'll never convert my truck to 4WD so I should put in some ZJ coils & lowering blocks :-)

What do the XJ shackles do to lower it? Just a bit shorter than MJ ones or what? Definitely let us know how you fix the geometry & clearance as I seriously might do this in the future to my truck. I've got bigger things to tackle first like the rust on the body and the flinstone floor boards. Wanna replace my floor boards if I drive my truck to Calgary? LOL.

I have tons of floor boards,..

I will be doing a friends in the next few weeks.

The two in drop in the front has caused bump stop issues (will need to shorten the stops) , track bar shoved the diff so that and the steering arm will need adjustment. Oh and the front axle may need to be chopped lol
