big66440 Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 I'm planning on replacing my AC evaporator along with my heater core and just noticed my new aftermarket evaporator does not have the small hole to put the capillary tube through, do you guys think i should send it back and try to get a factory one? I know Jeepair.com has them. I really need to get this done by this weekend so id really appreciate some help or personal experience with this, thanks

sloride Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 All the evaporators I looked at didn't have that hole. And I looked at maybe five total. (Fit issues.) I finally got fed up and settled on one evaporator that fit my box and drilled a hole thru the fins staying away from coils to get my tube in.. Now if jeep air has one that comes with the hole, by all means get it.
big66440 Posted October 15, 2015 Author Posted October 15, 2015 Do you have the part number for the one you wound up with? I really don't mind drilling it to make it work. I cannot actually drill the one I have without puncturing it, its kind of hard to explain.
sloride Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 Nope, sorry don't have part number.. my biggest problem was finding one that fit the heater box. Seems the ones out there had that gaggle of tube coming off the bottom to the top. My original had the lines coming off the core.
