Heater Core Question

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone i have a 1987 Jeep comanche 4.0L. Lately ive noticed a little bit of coolant leaking in the cab of the truck. wondering if its the heater core or something of that nature and what is the best procedure. and also the valve that is close to the core itself is there a way to bypass it by any chance because i notice it leaks some

What's the easiest and fastest way to do it?

I'm actually on the same boat as you are, I'll be overhauling my AC system as well while I'm in there. You have to remove the dashboard in order to replace the heater core, here is a link that's worth its weight in gold. From the looks of it it's not difficult just time consuming.

Here's another link, this is actually the way the factory shop manual says to replace it

Before you go to all the trouble of pulling the heater box check and make sure that the leak from the control valve is not running along the heater hoses into the box it's a possibility that's were the leak could be coming from. Good luck
