Big speed bump

Ok after getting my truck back together, I converted from 2wd to 4x4, and added roughly 6" lift. My t case shifting linkage is Hitting between the floor and the side of the transmission, and my t case output on the front is right in the shifter bracket. And I have almost no turning radius.. Is 2wd steering components different from 4x4? Do I need a drop pitman? If so will the Grandcherokee pitman be enough drop for what I need? And is a wrangler t case clocked different than mj/xj? I'm on the home stretch of my project and hitting speed bumps everywhere all help is GREATLY appreciated

what rig did your t-case linkage come from?  exactly what parts are in your 6" lift so far? 

 

yes, the wrangler t-case is clocked up a bit more than XJ/MJ units, though the holes in the trans are the reason, not the t-case itself.

 

2wd and 4wd steering parts are the same.  what is hitting and restricting the turning?

My trans/tcase came from a 92 yj. My lift is made up of 3" springs and 2.5" spacer in the front and rear is just spring over. The linkage was from an xj. I have a stock 2wd crossmember also. And my steering isn't hitting on anything it just stops turning. I've drove 3 other mjs with a similar set up and the steering was so much better..

is the t-case shifter linkage bracket that is on the trans from the YJ or XJ?  photos of everything might help.

 

does it turn the same amount in both directions? 

 

longer control arms?  longer trac bar?  longer sway bar links?

 

the crossmember should be the same 2wd vs 4wd.  they only change with the addition of the peugeot trans (which you never had)

I would get pictures but it's stuffed up in the truck already, I will do my best for pictures when I get back to where the truck is.

 

The steering is roughly the same amount in both directions, which is about a 15 degree angle from the body the steering wheel isn't centered either.

 

Lower adjustable control arms, adjustable trac bar, and currently no sway bar links in it, I plan on buying adjustable ones with disconnects.

the pivot hole on the bracket on the transmission needs to line up with the pivot hole on the body side bracket.  the clocking of the t-case won't help or hurt that. 

 

I made mine out of some steel after I noticed that 2 threaded holes lined up perfectly with where the imaginary pivot hole should be.
