Virginia
This is on my 65 Midget but figure you guys would know whether this will work. Was driving my Midget to work and the muffler started clanging on the ground. When I looked at it, it appears that where the bracket attached to the top of the actual muffler broke away from the muffler taking with it a rectangle piece of metal from the top of the muffler. It's about 1 3/4" by 3/4'. The little rectangle piece is still attached to the bracket and feels fairly sturdy. Can I some metal roof flashing and cut it to fit over the hole then smear JB Weld all around it and use the adjustable metal strap clamps to pull the pieces back together? I'd use about 4 of the clamps. Two on each side of the bracket and one on each end of the metal flashing to keep it sealed at tight as possible. Will this work? JeepcoMJ
get a small piece of tin and weld it onto the muffler...jbweld won't hold. or weld that piece back on. welder is the best idea IMO
Virginia
I don't need the JB Weld to hold it. I just want that to plug the seams. The adjustable metal strap clamps will actually carry the weight of the muffler.
JeepcoMJ
i know. i mean the jb won't hold to the heat of the muffler. I've NEVER had any luck with jbweld. IMO, you're best bet is to weld stuff up, OR just go buy a new muffler...they're like 40 bucks at autozone.
Virginia
Oh...didn't know it couldn't handle the heat.
JeepcoMJ
it generally won't. I wouldn't try it on any exhaust application
