I recently purchased an 87 Base with a 4.0 engine and Auto Trans. the Vin tells me this baby had a Manual transmission, but it now has an auto.

Finally got the engine runing smooth and went to work on the brakes. Nobody seems to be able to supply me with the correct calipers for the Jeep. What the parts people come up with does not work,  they sit to "high" (caliper piston is about 1/3 above the rotor) and the pin to attach it is too large to thread in..

BTW, I no longer have the origional calipers (I know - dumb) so I can't rebuild them. Any help of suggestions would be appreciated. . .Thanks

The caliper piston does sit above the rotor slightly as you said they were . The casting numbers on mine are 103707 ,337 and 323 . The part stores should be able to use the casting number to match up to make sure you have the correct calipers . Also check the calipers to make sure the bleeders are at the top of both calipers , I've had several wrong boxed ones .
