3 merchant marine sailors - one from Denmark, one from Australia & Tony the Italian were retiring.  They had sailed together for many years becoming the best of friends and had chosen the US as their new home.  Best country ever visited & they were excited about their new lives.

They applied for citizenship in New York City and to insure no glitches in the naturalization process they inrolled in an imigration program at NYCU - Every Tuesday evening - Couldn't wait for it - They were so full of enthusiasim - Always 1st in the classroom - Always in the front row seats & Always so boisterous that the instructor was getting a little flustered with their good natured but constant interuptions.

One evening during a lecture about religion the teacher gave up and decided to take the 3 down a peg.  She was explaining how the US was predominately Christian when the usual rambunctioness started.  She was explaining how Christians attended service on Sundays when . . .

OH YEAH! GOTTA GO TO CHURCH ON SUNDAY! AHMEN! All good Christians gotta go!  On & on.

Yes; good - But class, it is not only on Sundays a good Christian worships - There are a number of Christian holidays observed of which Easter is the most important.

Here it came again.

OH YEAH! EASTER'S NUMBER ONE! LET'S HEAR IT FOR JC!  LET'S HEAR IT FOR THE BUNNY! And on & on.

That did it - Time for a little humility she thought and looking at the Aussie she asked him, as such a good Christian, to stand and explain to the class the true meaning of Easter.

Uhh-Well a-Uhh-well a - Oh yeah!  Families get together once a year on a thursday for a feast - Big roast turkey. . . and she cut him off - explaining to the class that Thanksgiving was a holiday unique to the US & certainly not a religious one.

Then it was the Danes turn - Same request - Explain to everyone the true meaning of Easter.

Uhh, well you see, Oh yeah!  Once a year friends get together - Eat a lot - drink a lot - dancing - fun & when midnight comes. . . No, no, no - You're confusing Easter with New Years Eve & she pretty much embarrassed him with an explanation of his mistake.

Tony's turn & he suprized her.

Well class, Once upona time was a this a Holy Man - People loved him but a the government a hate him - They arrest him, naila him to a crossa and kill him.

Why yes, Tony, that is Easter!

Issa more to story, said Tony - Cause after the soldiers leave the people come back - They takea the Holy Man to a cavea for burial - Laya him out then rolla thisa huge rock across cave entrance so nobody canna geta in. . .

BELIEVE IT OR NO!  3 daysa later this Holy Man he's a wake up! - Roll a that rock outta the way by a himself - WALK OUTSIDE SEES A HIS SHADOW ANA WE HAVE SIX A MORE WEEKS OF WINTER! - - - -
