Incommando
My front springs have settled a bit now that I have a couple of thousand miles on my RE 5.5" front lift. The winch may have something to do with it. Anyway I do not like the "rake" look. Rather then raising the front back up I would like to lower the rear a bit. The rear is a SOA using 2wd springs. I am reluctant to start removing leafs as the springs are pretty soft as it is. I do not want to promote spring wrap or other axle movement control issues. I have heard about using XJ shackles to lower the rear of an MJ but I can't find many details. In looking at the stock MJ shackles I notice that there is not a lot of free room left between the spring eye and the body side of the shackle. I was wondering if putting a shorter shackle on there would cause interference or a loss of shackle movement that would affect my flex. The rear suspension on the truck flexes very well now and it seems like a shorter shackle would reduce spring movement/flex? Thought? Hints? Throwing of rocks? AeroNautical
I've done this, with the same setup you have. It affects pinion angle enough for vibes, lowers about 1.5 inches, and would really benefit from a shackle relocation bracket. I ended up putting my MJ shackles back in and put a 2 inch puck in the front end, only adjustment I had to do was the track bar. The front pinion angle wasn't affected enough for vibes when I did this.
ParadiseMJ
I have done it the other way around...putting MJ shackles on the XJ. After I put new leafs and lift shackles on the XJ it was slightly too tall. They fit fine, and did not really make much difference, articulation wise. It's really only about a half inch difference over stock at the end of the day. The shackles will not affect spring wrap, the SOA might, especially with softer springs. ggcnash
You could also run 1" Chevy lift shackles which would get you lower

I have a variety of front puck sizes so I will probably just bite the bullet and raise the front
