Jacob Ochs
So me and my dad sat all day talking swaps of motors and decided if were going to do any swap lets go all out and do a v8 swap! So tomorrow were off to get a awd 1999 for explorer 5.0 from a friend for 700$. It runs great but has one cracked radiator hose from the -10 we had the other week! So were sending it off to get bored as soon as we get it out. As well as ported and polished heads and intake. My father had a 68 f250 390 ci bored and stroked around my age (18) and loved it and I think this brought back the memory. I am super excited about this swap and will post pictures and tell about all the troubles an mishaps we have on the way! Any tips you guys have will be greatly appreciated! :) Also I am not planning on this being cheap or easy... At all!
Mattwheels
I'd almost just look into a 318, imagine it'll be less headache, can mount to the jeep transmissions fairly easy, and its mopar :D, granted the only ford motor I like is the 351w. Regardless it'll be a bad @$$ truck when you're done.

I'm taking the engine transmission and worrying harness/ECU and parting out the rest, so in hoping to make the 700$ back in miscellaneous parts! Dadinator
5.0 way more aftermarket support than 318. Good choice. Exploder 5.0's have good heads and intake but very mild cams. Suggest cam swap to really make it sing. that is the route i would go on the wifeys tj if the 2.5 ever gives up.

I was thinking going with procomp aluminum heads, and a 347 striker kit with the cylinders bored .030 over. With this setup it claims there will be near 400 hp! My main problem is figuring out how to mount up my TC!
Dadinator
Would not be surprised if advance adapters has what you need. A genuine 400hp will be very hard on your drivetrain. Be prepared to break stuff.
