Jaxso32 Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 Just finished an ax15 swap in my 88 4.0. To save myself some work and money I swapped the input shaft and kept the original t-case, but the old linkage won't work. Do I need to use the linkage that i got with the ax15. Thanks
Jaxso32 Posted December 10, 2014 Author Posted December 10, 2014 Also part time cluster light is on, even though I know it is in 2wd
Brickmiata Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 If the original was a ba10 like mine, take the bracket the bolted to the transmission, remove it from the rod that pivots in it, turn it around so the side that used to face the transmission, now faces the tunnel, install the entire ba10 linkage. It's not quite a perfect fit lining things up but once the bolts go in and a minor adjustment is made to the adjustment rod in the assembly, it works very well. You may have to widen the bolt hole in the bracket you reverse as well. My ax15 had a larger unused hole that worked perfectly.
Rockfrog Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 Or just use the Boostwerks direct linkage kit and eliminate the the convoluted factory linkage altogether.
Jaxso32 Posted December 13, 2014 Author Posted December 13, 2014 Thanks Brickmiata I'll try that as soon as my truck isn't barried in snow.Rock frog unfortunately I am a poor college student so can't go that route right now
