MN MJ trail rig

Doc.

Well, I'm only selling if someone is buying. ;)  If it sells, I sure hope it finds a good home, it will be tough to let it go.

Just not into the hobby as much as I used to be, seems like I have to be talked into going wheeling. Maybe building a buggy would help, then again I'm not so sure about that theory either.

Well, I'm only selling if someone is buying... Just not into the hobby as much as I used to be...

That's unfortunate but I've been in the same boat for years now. I'd love to have it living so close to Appleton but then starts the snowball effect of getting a trailer to move it... and making time... Really cool little truck though. I really dig the low buck approach to it with the tractor links and what not. I'd say it'd be just about exactly what I'd build to make my own. Every time I've seen it I've always noticed something new that I didn't see before... just a bunch of cool little details! Here's more pictures from when I was at your place a few years ago:

What kind of maintenance does it need?

To be honest I don't have a list of what it needs. I think a guy needs to give it a good going over from front to back and see what it needs, and I just don't seem to have the time for it. I do know some of the links should be changed out, at least one ball joint, tires are pretty bad, there is a dent in the oil pan by the drain plug so now it drips, to make it look nice again it would need doors and fenders (fix the cab) and a windshield.

On the up side I took it out last weekend with no issues (other than bending a rear driveshaft on a big rock).

  • 2 weeks later...

While I didn't expect to get flooded with emails from craigslist, I am surprised at getting zero emails. No weird questions, no trade for a ____ offers, no low ballers, not even spammers, it's like the ad isn't even posted. Any thoughts why there has been no interest in it at all?

Honestly I'd say the price is a little ambitious even for the guy who wants it just give it the bare minimum to take it out and throw it around. Cherokees are cheaper to come by if that be the case. You're looking for that one guy who knows what it is and why it's special. If it were mine, I'd want to hang new sheet metal on it to straighten it up, paint, links, tires... easily throw at least another grand at it. It's got a bunch of cool details and the cage was nicely done. Still, whoever would buy it would most likely want to make it their own somehow. If I were in the position to make an offer, I think $1500 would my absolute top dollar.

Surprised you didn't post a link on MN-Jeep.  :dunno:

Didn't think there was much point posting on mn-cheep.

Yah, I know I'm looking for that one guy that appreciates it for what it is. With all the comps over the years I thought there would be at least some interest. As for my asking price there's the old saying. You can always come down, but you can't go up. As for bare minimum to take it out wheeling, I plan to take it to Dresser next weekend with no worries. Oh well, good thing I don't need to sell it. Maybe I'll hit the lottery (hard when you don't play though) and I'll be able to do a re-build thread on it. It would be fun to "restore" and make it "pretty" and more street friendly again.

I figured that was why you didn't post anything there. Like I said before, if I were to build a trail only truck it'd be just about what you've got already. Hopefully this sparked some new interest for you and this old truck.  ... be sure to take lots of pictures when that happens too. People love pictures. :D

I agree with Ben. Any MJ for over 3k in MN has to be NICE for it to attract people that appreciate them. It's just a 25 year old truck to most. Hate to say but even with brand new tires, it's not worth your asking price to the general public. Toss some better rubber at it and put $2300 on it. It will go for that. Probably better chance in the spring. Lots of people think there is a wheeling season.... I don't think so tho...
