Jeep Driver Posted August 16, 2014 Share Posted August 16, 2014 Remove brake caliper and rotor. Remove axle nut, 36mm socket. Loosen the three bolts behind the knuckle that secures the unit bearing, loosen about 2 turns. Tap the heads of the bolts until the unit bearing releases from the knuckle. Remove the three bolts. Remove unit bearing. Axle will now slide out. Replace U-joint. Yep, but more often than not, the hub will not come off easily. I had to place a socket between the hub and axle, turn the engine on and use the power steering to pop it off. I don't recommend that, though.
