JeepcoMJ
Just found a good webpage on the subject of this engine swap. Here it is again in case anyone missed it...http://www.lunghd.com/Tech_Articles/Project_XJ/Project_XJ.htm ...yea, when I first saw that link a year ago, i cursed. what idiot would swap to a 3.4 then put the STOCK carb system back on?! guys, if you do a 3.4 conversion, DO NOT put the 2.8 carb and intake back on, either wire up the computer and fuel injection (verrry simple), or buy the edelbrock intake with a holley 390cfm 4bbl carb intake ($200 for intake, 300 for carb new). message me if you're doing the swap and i'll tell you what wires do what for the injection. Pete M
The stock Jeep carb could choke the life out of a lawnmower. Aftermarket or injection is the ooooonly way to go. :D

Pete M
Well, technically you still get a better block and that is something considering how bad the 2.8s can be. You just won't make any more power.
paulsaw
http://www.comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=10947 I just found an old topic about the swap (above). Keeping the fuel injection makes major sense. That guy musta got scared by the loose wires and just put the carb back on (good pics though). http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=409218
JeepcoMJ
oh! for the swap you will need a good in-line fuel pump or a 2.5 or even 4.0 fuel pump and gas tank. the 3.4 isn't machined for the mechanical fuel pump (for good reason too) I will be doing this swap with beaterjeep late this summer/early next fall at the latest, so i'll keep y'all posted.
