Jeepjeff859
I have replaced the gasket on my comanche and now no matter what i try to seal it up it still leaks. I have only been able to find the plastic valve covers but i would like to get a metal one. Any ideas??

88whitemanche
Have you been to the jy? Look for a late model 4cyl cherokee/wrangler/96-98 dodge Dakota they have the metal valve cover and as for a gasket get the molded rubber from a 98 dodge Dakota 4cyl...did the upgrade about a a year ago and no leaks since. 88whitemanche
If you do find one in a yard remember to keep the bolts to the new ones because the older ones won't fit with the new valve cover.... Jeepjeff859
On my plastic one it had two holes for the I guess vacuum lines, I grabbed a wrangler metal cover and it has one big hole on the top and two little ones, which ones do I hook up. 88whitemanche
Top one goes to the air box but you would have to get a new vacuum line for it...and the one to the bottom right side goes to the throttle body....
Jeepjeff859
ok i was able to get it but now the engine is idling high ans has a short of soft knocking to it
88whitemanche
Ok double check the vacuum hose from the bottom side to the throttle body... For me that hose always causes high idle when loose, cracked, or to much suction that causes the hose to close
