rjontzen
Saturday while playing at Haspin I smashed the passenger side LCA mount and that in turn seems to now have my steering wheel turned 90* to the left. :( What fun! My planned repair is to unbolt the arm and bend the mounts back to straight and then re enforce the brackets with a add on skid plate(like jks or RExpress) and/or a welded gusset. The arms are RE's and they don't look damaged and the axle is a HP D30 Can i arc weld on the axle housing without disassembling the axle?? any thoughts on this repair are welcome. thanks bob
Bounty Hunter
You can weld on the axle as long as there are no bearings between the ground and electrode.
pingpong
What bounty hunter said is true.... I would weld them using some 7018... depending on your welder I wouldnt turn the heat up but so much cause the stock Lca mounts are 1/8 inch junk. But lca skids, and bracing the sides might help it last a lil while longer. Patrick
