I have my 86 mj with the 2.8l:( I have a working donor 96 Cherokee with the AX-15 and the HO 4.0, how hard is this swap, and what is involved in depth, I am also swapping in the 8.8 rear end but I already know all about that!

Inner fenders with core support, front frame crossmember, and hood will have to be swapped.

Maybe a bit of hammer work on the firewall to clear the bellhousing. Other than that, and swapping the compete wiring harness from firewall forward, and splicing the MJ tail to xj dash harness, the only thing you need is a h.o. MJ fuel sending unit and to add a fuel filter inline underneath.

So basically, everything from the dash forward except the axle will need to come apart.

I'm guessing I should go buy a little jap car to get to work for about 4 months, sounds pretty tough!

Take the xj apart first and you will see first hand how it comes apart. It's not a huge project, just huge if you haven't done it before
