JeepcoMJ Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 flexplate on my 87 comanche sport is cracked...badly. what years can I use? is there a difference in the cps part of it and bolt pattern? I have a few lineups but they're all for the H.O. engines and idk if they will work with the renix system cps. ideas?
87manche Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 must be renix. ho used a diffent tooth pattern/cps. can't use the ho CPS and flexplate with renix ECU.
JeepcoMJ Posted April 30, 2007 Author Posted April 30, 2007 10-4 i just bought a new one...but it will take 4 days to get it. so i guess i'll clean the tranny really really good, and clean off the back of the engine and also take care of the leaking manifold while i'm at it
87manche Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 it's not all bad. I did the hondas brakes, my dads brakes, fixed his air handler in the dash (now that's fun, I didn't know human arms could bend that way), did struts on the wife's camry. All last weekend. I feel a bit sore today.
JeepcoMJ Posted April 30, 2007 Author Posted April 30, 2007 haha, try doing 4 sets of ujoints in 1 weekend, and yanking the head from a renault and putting in new precups too.... the renault makes the 4.0 look like fun to work on
Eagle Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 must be renix.ho used a diffent tooth pattern/cps. can't use the ho CPS and flexplate with renix ECU. Which translates to 87 thru 90 for the flex plate
JeepcoMJ Posted May 1, 2007 Author Posted May 1, 2007 10-4 big guy. i ordered a new one it'll be here in 4 days. i'm replacing the filter and front and rear tranny seals, and cleaning the tranny in the meantime
JeepcoMJ Posted May 5, 2007 Author Posted May 5, 2007 installed it with a new torque converter seal and tranny filter/pan gasket kit. that fixed the choppy running...it's perked right up now that the CPS can get a good reading rather than a bunch of wobble. shifts smooth, runs good. now i have to replace one idler wheel for the serpentine, and take off the intake and exhaust manifolds so i can weld the exhaust.
