Doc Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 Ok guys, and gals, I am in the process of removing the interior of my 86 Comanche. First real problem, the bench seat. Of the 8 bolts that hold it in, only 1 came off. The rest are just spinning but the nuts are not moving. I looked under the truck and can't see anything to grab on to, so before I break out the chop saw, can anyone tell me if there is a better way? :dunno:
Babyblack86 Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 Drench them with penetrating oil and let it soak overnight. OR try heating up the nut with a small torch. BE CAREFUL! Keep some water or an extiquisher handy. Roasted Comanche does not taste like chicken.
Doc Posted March 24, 2014 Author Posted March 24, 2014 Well, I gave it a good shot of WD-40 and worked on it a few hr, still no go. So I did what anyone with a Air grinder would do! I cut the nut off the stud! Split the sucker and then took a hammer and punch and just knocked it off. So now the seat is out and I can start my floor pan repair. And I hear what your saying Babyblack, Rosted Comanche isnt a very good appetizer.
92tanMJ Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 If they were just spinng the oil wouldnt help. Glad to hear you got it off though.
