Radio Antennae Wire

Recommended Posts

Now that I have the dash apart in my MJ, I'm sorting things out with the wiring for the radio in my truck. Since I cut the antennae wire inside the fender-well, I don't have a working radio. Would another wire from a junkyard XJ be suffice in fitting, or are these things impossible to get off the mast without clipping? (IIRC, someone said they practically are) :dunno:

If the latter holds true, is there something aftermarket I can use to listen to the radio whilst driving? Not sure how reliable the kits at the parts-stores are. Figured someone on here can point a fellow towards something worth buying.

Most of what you will find in auto parts stores won't fit the shape of the fender hole. Best option would be to get the antenna connection from a 96- xj at a JY. Some antennas are made to be able to unplug the cable from the mount on the firewall some aren't, when I had the fenders off my 93 while working on it I just removed the mount from the fender and let it hang there.

Thanks Dave. Is there a visual difference between the ones that can be unplugged and the ones that can't? Should be headed to the JY soon, so I'll try my luck there shopping around. :wrench:
