Jeep Driver
I no longer want my backup lights hanging down from my bumper. I'm considering LED mini bars and I want them hinged and to swing down when in reverse. I'm thinking about a micro linear actuator or a vacuum motor or a lock actuator. The only thing I have not figured out yet is how to get two functions out of one signal from the reverse switch. The axle CAD system......what switches are used? how does the motor function? push....pull......spring action? how is the vacuum controlled......two function switch?......vacuum valve? Any ideas? Thanks.
Timeless
The same voltage supplied to the reverse lights could in theory trip a solenoid or actuator to make them drop down. Why not just recess them into the bumper?
oldseddie
My brother had side steps that dropped down on his Cummins pickup. I'll bet the actuators could be used for that. PM me if interested and I'll make him price them. He put rock bars on as one had quit working.

Eagle
The only thing I have not figured out yet is how to get two functions out of one signal from the reverse switch. Pretty much what Timeless wrote. One switch can control multiple relays, and each relay can then power a separate function. The axle CAD system......what switches are used? how does the motor function? push....pull......spring action? how is the vacuum controlled......two function switch?......vacuum valve? The CAD is vacuum controlled. No electrical power involved.
