Dadinator Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 I am pretty sure that the 4.0 won't fit in your 86 without firewall modifications. If I had an 86, I would look into getting a 3.4L from a Camaro. They are externally the same engine and are a direct swap. More power and better reliability than the old 2.8.

Akula69 Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 Got a 4.0 with almost new sensors all the way around. Came out of my son's 89 after about 8K miles (he did the 89-99 swap and we dropped a rebuilt 99 4.0 in his). If interested let me know. Its 511 miles away - might even be willing to meet you halfway.
