Pete M
Doesn't that depend on whether you're looking at the t-case or the axle?
Duner
rotation direction is generally stated from driver seat point of view while car is moving forward. This equates to CCW for forward for most rear drive cars made. Or if you face the engine while it is cranking you will see it turns CW from this point of view which translates to CCW from the driver's seat. jared
so the rear driveshaft is couter clockwise, then what about the front is it reversed or the same?
Pete M
The transfercase chain will dictate which way the front spins. :D
jared
well if the jeep was going forward in 4wd the rear driveshaft would be spinning ccw, and the front would be spinning? i can't figure it out myself i need someone else to look while i drive. Pete M
The d-shafts would be spinning in the same rotational direction. The chain inside the t-case makes sure of that (it wraps around both sprockets). Whether you call it clockwise or counterclockwise depends on your perspective. When you start to go forwards, the top of the transfercase chain would move towards the drivers side (CCW if viewed from behind the t-case). Both d-shafts must follow suit.
