I was doing an oil change yesterday and saw where the oil drain plug. it was right next to the exhaust and was hard to remove, and had to remove it from the manifold in order to get it back on. My engine is from a 87 or 88 comanche 2.5. Did they change the oil pan those years? or did they stay the same and they are just that hard to get to?

Thanks in advance!

Yes there were different oil pans on the 2.5.

I ordered a rebuilt engine with oil pan and I noticed the difference before I installed it.  The sump on my original pan was about 4" forward, that gives room for the exhaust to rout through.  When I swapped the pans I had to change the pick-up tube as well.

So they can be swapped out for a different year 2.5 oil pan?
