I believe it's just sitting in the bed. Any lift as the vehicle is moving would be stopped by the toolbox. I imagine weighting down a structure like that could be easily done with sandbags.

yeah it does seem like it's held on by the tool box, sandbags would be great if i could get some, i actually started thinkin of a water cooler jug filled with sand and slappin a pole in the middle and cargo strappin the jug to the bed and clampin the jug mouth to the pole

You can also use the 4 tie downs in the bed of the truck to help secure the top of the pole

thought of that but just with 2

I havent read the whole thread but Ive done 75 in my xj with a 3x5 flag on it with nothing more than a wood pole and two zip ties holding it to the roofrack.

any flex or bend, snappin, anything break?

Redwolf

Nope none of it lol these are with 3x5 flags. And you can see how I have them zip tied to the rack..the rope isnt touching them at all

built my flag pole, finished it yesterday and got it mounted, started it day before yesterday, went up to 65mph and what happen? NOTHING!! it works like a charm, i have it zip tied at the bed rail where i have 3 holes from the last owner and i have the pole welded to the L piece that i've posted pictures of on here earlier, and that's bolted to the bed, here's some pictures,
