TylerJY
Am I going to run into any issues rebuilding my '93 block and head with a '99 rebuild kit and swapping everything (and yes I mean everything) from my '99 Cherokee?? I'm just curious if I should use the '99 head or the '93 head with the '93 block, I heard the '93 head has better flow because the '99 had to restrict it for emissions. Both motors are 4.0 HOs Thanks.
Geonovast
Two heads were used in 99. Which one do you have?
TylerJY
i'm fairly certain.. not 100% that I have the one pre-0331.
Geonovast
This might help you, I only vaguely understand the numbers for it. http://www.jeepstrokers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=3028
randomguy310
interesting, some real dyno numbers to compare on same motor would be neat
TylerJY
sent the '93 (7170) head off to machine shop yesterday so that's what i'll be using. anyone know if the head bolts that are sold for a 96-01 will work for sure?? almost impossible to find a set for older HOs. Geonovast
AFAIK the only difference between the head bolts is that the newer ones have a 12 point head. 1/2", IIRC. Rockauto has the hex head bolts for $41.
TylerJY
Yeah, i was just wanting to purchase the FelPro ones through Rockauto which are listed for the later years.
