How much lift do my coils have?

I've got a set of coil springs in my truck that I'm not sure what the lift on them is, is there anyway to figure it out? I think they're about 22" tall with 12 wraps of coil.

I don't remember the number of coils in stock springs but when new they should measure between 17.8 to 18.6 inches of free height depending on 2wd, 4wd, 4wd eliminator package.

 

So your springs are typical of the 3 to 4 inch lifts readily available on the market. You would have to have your stock springs installed take measurements then install the lifted springs to see what the net result actually is due to differences in spring rate, number of coils, gauge of wire coil, etc.

Get a measurement from the center of your hub to the bottom of your flare. Someone here'll know the stock height. I have a guess, but those aren't accurate.

You cannot assess amount of lift based on the free length of the coils. The spring rate is a mathematical function that depends on the free length, the number of coils, the outside diameter of the coils, and the diameter of the wire itself. Change any one of those variables, and you change the entire spring.

Thanks for the help, I don't know why I wasn't thinking of all of that - slight brain fart today. :nuts: I even knew the fender flare measurement.... Eagle, thanks for reminding us of the obvious - Sometimes that's more needed than it should be.
