Cluster Question 87/88

So I am in the middle of doing my interior. i pulled a cluster from a 88 mj pioneer. but i noticed the gear shifter thing ( Park Reverse Drive ECT.) is located on my cluster. My shifter being behind my steering wheel. my question being is it located behind the cluster or is it part of the cluster?

can't answer you question about the gear indicator but I found this cluster to be more practical IMO (mind you i have a 5speed so tack is nice)

 

gets you the oil pressure, temp, battery, plus teck. Just a heads up.

I do believe it is separate, I say this because i have seen guys take their new clusters and cut a hole in the bottom of for it to show through.
