Htchevyii
Hey guys, I just got my new-old Comanche back and rejoined. The story is: my Dad bought the Comanche in 1992. In 1995 he bought a new truck and I bought ther Jeep. I had it for 10 years and did a ton of work to try to make it like new: 8.8 Explorer, 5" lift, ax-15 trans, new steering, brakes, wheels and tires and a reman engine. Well, a year or so after the engine swap, the new engine cracked a cylinder wall and hydrolocked for no apparent reason. I was so disgusted, I bought a new truck. After a few months, I calmed down a little and reinstalled the old 230,000 engine that was sitting inside a bad in a cardboard box for the previous year and sold the truck back to my Dad . He has driven it and its gotten a bit rundown in the last 7 years, so he bought a new truck and gave me the Comanche back! It now has approc 300k on the original 4.0. Actually, he was chasing a belt or bearing noise on the front of the engine that we could't figure out. He replaced both idler pullys, the Alt, the water pump, the P/S pump and bypassed the tan pulley and it still makes noise! I've heard of harmonic balancers going bad and rubbing, but I pulled it off and it wasn't. On top of this, he noticed the new radiator was leaking, thats when he bought the new truck! So i'll have to somehow figure it out. Here are a few pics of the old beast.
