Starter Relay Center Tab?

I was wondering what it was for. On my truck, it doesn't connect to anything, but still gets a decent amount of residue from electrical contact, I think. Is it supposed to connect to something?

The earlier relays had 3 contacts. The later '87 up, only had 2, The '86 3 terminal can be and often is substituted for the later 2 terminal. The 3rd terminal just goes unused. Don't worry about it. And before anybody asks, No, the later 2 terminal cannot be substituted for the earlier 3 terminal.
