89Comanche4x4
So i have let the truck sit all summer, then i put a new battery battery in it, but a week or so went by and the new battery slowly drained out and died. has anyone else had this happen to them? any options that i could look for to fix it? thanks
HOrnbrod
To determine unknown parasidic battery current draw using a multimeter : Disconnect the negative battery terminal. Use the 10A jacks on your multimeter, and observing polarity, connect the leads in series between the disconnected neg battery cable and the battery neg terminal. If there is current flow indicated, the meter will show an indication. Next start pulling the the fuse block fuses one by one until the amp draw decreases to zero (or near) on the meter. This will put you in the ballpark to see which circuit(s) are causing the amp draw. You will need an accurate schematic (preferrably from the appropriate FSM for your model/year) to find the point on the affective circuit where the short or partial short circuit occurs after the fuse and the device the fuse is protecting. danbyrambler
Yep & near zero draw is important - Things like radio - clock & anything with memory are gonna show. :agree:
ParadiseMJ
Check you glove box latch. It can break or fall out of adjustment and the light will stay on if it doesn't click. That's what mine was...chased it for a week or more.
hagenjc9
I had this same thing with mine....I ended up finding that my dome light fuse wouldnt shut off. Had to pull out the fuse when it would sit over night. Good luck finding your problem, but check all of your fuses for sure.
