jmderyke
Ok I have an 1986 2.5l with an ax5 transmission with an external slave cylinder. the other day my clutch stopped disengauging so on tear down i found my clutch looking like a rats nest, a spring from the clutch was jammed in the fingers and my clutch release fork is bent. The problem I'm having is finding a new clutch release fork. There are later model release forks that look like it but are different, the way the throw out bearing mounts on the fork is the main difference, and also uses a different throw out bearing. I was just wondering if anyone else ran into this problem and if a later model release fork and throw out bearing will work. Thanks

Jeep Driver
Mine is off a 94 and I'm only familiar with mine. I just swapped a 97 Wrangler slave on last weekend so I know there must be a spread of years with interchangable parts. Worst case is you'll need to find a bell from 94 up and swap out the bell and fork and TOB......possibly the slave too. How about posting pics and measurements. I have a bell and fork that I can pic and measure for you to compare.

Thanks Did you have any luck finding a new release fork and throw out bearing? I also have an '86, also in Oregon, and my clutch also stopped disengaging. I'm replacing the master and slave cylinders hoping it was one of those, but will probably have to check out the clutch. This started while deer hunting last weekend in Sisters, the drive home over the mountain range was an adventure. Desperately trying to fix it before heading back this weekend, but work is getting in the way of things.
