Blue88Comanche
Well we had a thunder storm that came through and stormed for hours, and had a ton of lightning and thunder. Our beagles where terrified. I was at the store when the storm started and the power went out a couple times while i was there. the internet for my phone was not working so i was unable to turn off my computer while i was stuck in mobile, and thus my Desktop PC was zapped by lightning AGAIN. after i got home Snoopy was so terrified he curled up at the end of the hall and would not leave that spot unless i carried him to another room. I finally got him settled down and set out a blanket under the china cabinet where he stayed for till I took him home with me last night. When we did get home I let him stay in the house till people stopped shooting off their Large and Loud fireworks, all he wanted to do was hide under the desk in my room. At about 10 PM Mom calls, Mayhem their 9 month old beagle, is hiding under the addition to the house from all the fireworks and won't come out, they tried calling her, tried giving her treats, and some chicken we made for our dogs, and she still would not come out. I am apparently her favorite person because when mom calls her in she may or may not come in, but if I call her she usually comes running. So I get over Mom and Dad's house and Dad had part of the patio dug up trying to find her, I called her a few times and she slowly came out to where i could get her. That was my Independence Day, I hope yours was better. And on a side note, we are celebrating our Independence thus Independence Day, not the 4th day of July. More and more people just celebrate the 4th of July as a big party, and not the real reason for the Holiday the 4th was noted for, America's Independence, and remembering all those who fought to obtain it. But that's modern Americans for you, I wouldn't be surprised that in 10 years or so we stop calling Christmas by its name and start calling it the 25th of December, I have already seen Xmas cards so there is the first step... :USAflag:
MJRemi
Yeah, our dogs were skittish when the locals started popping off close to the house. However, in perspective, you nor I didn't fair too poorly. Watching the news for the past couple days concerning large areas along the Eastern Seaboard where a big storm came through and knocked out power to vast numbers of people just as record high temperatures decided to stay a few days, including through the 4th of July. Now those folks are most likely having a miserable time and I hope the emergency crews can get them some power in the near future.
