jeeplover88
Hey guys, does anyone have any recommendations for a leaky windshield? I believe that it's leaking on my drivers side, and it almost looks like the previous owner tried to use something to stop the leak, but I'd like to fix it once and for all! Puddles on your floor are not chill! Thanks guys :Canadaflag:
88SGTSlaughter
I'm not sure how much you want to get into it, but on my XJ it was pretty rusted and with out cutting and swapping window frames there wasnt much I could do other then.. Remove windshield molding Clean out debris Dry all moister Prep if you can (I sanded what I could and got a lot of the loose paint/metal out) Then apply black rtv generously and smooth with finger Allow to dry (or don't I didnt) Then reinstall molding I also rtv'd around the molding and then painted a couple inches around window because mine was bad and didnt want it to leak again from me flexing it. It has almost been a year and I have had no issues!
KYMJ
The local window shop quoted me $75 to reseal mine, which I thought was pretty reasonable. Assuming they didn't break it in the process, there's always a chance. And, that's also assuming no rust, luckily I didn't have any.
