Gjeep
Did a search on the web, etc. Wanted to see what kind of grease to use for the Ax-15 input shaft? High-temp grease? Looks like something else was used previously. Advice?
Comanche County
That's what I used, just a dab to completely pack the pilot bearing and an extra dab behind the bearing in the flywheel. Remember, the input shaft and flywheel are only spinning at different rates at idle or shifting gears. Essentially whenever you have the clutch engaged. When driving the input shaft matches the clutch rpm (unless your clutch is slipping). High temp grease is fairly sticky and shouldn't fling out. Doesn't need much, if you pack too much in though, it will contribute to clutch slippage when it leaks and is thrown out to the face of the flywheel. There may be stickier lubricants that would be better for the application, but basic wheel bearing grease is what I've always used. Again, it doesn't take much so don't over apply it.
