Comancheap

Recommended Posts

I've lurked and posted here for years waiting on this Comanche and now it's finally mine! I became aware of it in high school when a girl a class ahead me started driving it. It had approx. 90k then. She went on to college and left the truck in her stepdad's field. Before I could ask about it it was sold to another family and I watched 2 teenage kids drive the wheels off of it. Now those kids have moved on and I was FINALLY able to make it mine!

Don't know the year yet as the title's being mailed to me but it's a SWB 2.5/AX4/4x4 truck. The kids' dad had been using it to haul firewood so it's not as straight as I remember it, but I got a pretty sweet deal. 156k on it now, a new battery and 2 pumps of the gas and it fired right up. I found the original owners manual in the glovebox with maintenance till 89k. First entry in it is 12/5/88 so I'm guessing it's an '88.

Driving it up on the trailer

Dragging it to my brother's place, where there is parking

Like all older Jeeps, the wiring needs addressed. One blinker (or maybe the flashers if we have some bulbs out) is always flashing. Brake lights are dim. Driver door doesn't open from inside. Wheels/tires don't match. For the price I can't complain, and am looking forward to learning from and playing with this little beast!

Thank you! The jury is still out on that one. Going to make it streetable first then hopefully a dependable DD. Mods will be the V8 ZJ swaybar and a toolbox, eventually. To me it wouldn't be worth fixing/modifying much, but it'd be nice to have it moving anyway.

Another pic

There are 4 more of the 16" chrome fake beadlocks with bald street tires (MJ had flats, we had the wheels from another project), so hoping to find some small cheap 16" tires to keep the little power it has flowing to the ground.

This forum is a great resource, thanks for having me!
