Metric Ton of Fun

Recommended Posts

Hello all! Been lurkin around on here for a while and finally decided to post my MJ. Its not very pretty but I absolutely LOVE the truck. Its a 1986 LWB 2.5 5 speed (Probably the BA-10/5 but I'm not sure) 4x4 with the metric ton package and the AMC20 rear axle/Dana 30 Front with 4.11 gears (pretty stoked about that). It has 86,000 original miles while the engine only has <60K. The jeep has been my Dad's worktruck for about 20 years but since I have taken over the Family Business I can now call it mine, however I've been driving this thing since I was 16.

The PO before my dad had installed a lift (Coils/add-a-leaf) but its tired and in need of a new set of leafs and coils.

Future Plans:

Straighten the body

4-5" SOA lift/Coils

33-35s

Losing that lumbar rack

I have a camping/Hauling truck theme in mind so nothing too crazy. I'm a broke college student/volunteer Firefighter so the mods will come when money allows.

Very excited to join and be associated with like-minded individuals. Love these trucks.

Here are some more pics. Please let me know what you think and I'm always open to suggestions!

  • 10 months later...

Nothing done to the comanche yet but I am interested in the Cherokee conversion. Does anyone know if there are any fitment issues with swapping parts from a 97+ to an 86? I've seen a fair share of 87+ Comanches with the swap but never an 86. I'm wondering if there is a difference from the AMC to the Chrysler Comanches?

Thanks
