speedo gears

Swapped in my tranny,

Threw the old speedo gear in,

Its the same amount of teeth but bigger,

 

Do I need to swap over to the other one? But just stick that gear on the longer shaft?

is your speedometer cable driven or electric?

 

Cable driven will use the Long shaft

 

Electronic will use the short shaft

Question is do I need to swap the smaller 28 tooth gear onto the long shaft, (the one that came with tranny 99 ax-15) or can I use the larger 28 tooth gear that came out of my 88 tranny :thumbsup:

that is a good question... that i don't have an answer for..

 

but i would put the long shaft gear and try the different positions to see if the teeth will mesh properly, can't hurt too much to try right?

 

edit, if you can swap the gear it self then that may be the way to go if the first try with the old one does not work. would need to find a way to keep the gear from free spinning on the shaft
