KYMJ Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 I've just gotten back from filing my paperwork to retire from a career I loved. I've been given an excellent oppurtunity to stay somewhat in my field with a local aluminum smelting plant who hires retired firefighters in the security department. I'll be doing security/EMT/firefighting/Emergency response team/HazMat, so I'll be doing alot of what I've been doing. I was just ready for a change of scenery and am very excited for the opportunity. :jump:

KYMJ Posted March 6, 2012 Author Posted March 6, 2012 Yeah, ha ha. The new job will be part time. But, that and my retirement will be the first substantial raise I've had in years. I plan on voluntering more with my wife, she's the activity director with a state run veterans retirement home.
bgred2 Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 I highly recommend retirement. Did it 7 years ago and have no regrets yet. Firefighting is a young persons game.
