Twisty
can i unplug the TCU, wire up some switches, and control the tranny's gears when in D. I know it defaults to 4th when the TCU is unplugged, but that means both solenoids are OFF. If i send power to them in D, will they go into 1, 2, 3? I think this is what your unit does. Thanks. EDIT...I did my own thing...pics are a few posts down.
Oizarod115
yeah, cause brett's truck doesnt have a TCU its a manual>auto swap with just switches to control it (or it was, idk if he's revamped it since i last read about it) but you can manually send power to the switches, i don't remember where the diagram/writeup is... it might be on awshifting.com or go-jeep? Twisty
CW- You sure can! my MJ has the AW4. The only reason I did this is because its not really wanting to shift with the transmission computer...and the only way i could get past 1st gear is to run w/o the TCU. without the TCU, you lost 2nd gear, and the torque converter. This was very simple to wire up, and the two guides I used were... this, page 3 and 4 http://www.transonline.com/transdigest/ ... index.html and this, just for an idea of how to wire it... http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=354855 THanks for the complements guys. feerocknok
Does it work?
Twisty
Does it work? hell yes!! when it in D, and you have the brake depressed, if you turn on the torque converter, the truck stalls. and 1, 2, 3, 4 gears work great.
