Blue88Comanche Posted October 30, 2011 Share Posted October 30, 2011 i can't figure out whats not working correctly... the cable is fine, i can spin the gear and the speedometer works fine but when i put it into the transfer case it does not work.. i swapped the speed gear and still nothing.. the first gear was from my 88 tc and the second gear was from the case originally. mule13 Posted October 31, 2011 Share Posted October 31, 2011 i can't remember if those are the ones that are cam shaped. the round piece that you actually bolt down some are cam shaped and have to be turned a certain way to mesh the gears down there. not sure if yours is one or not. Garvin Posted October 31, 2011 Share Posted October 31, 2011 The part the gear slides into that bolts to the transfer case needs to be turned for the gears to mesh correctly. Where the gear goes in that bracket is not in the center (figured this out the hard way when I was chasing down my speedo issue). I think this is what mule13 is talking about. I'm pretty sure they kept doing this till they went to electronic in '91 as the ones I have that are electric are centered. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
