Surprise, surprise, the axle swap is not quite as "plug and play" as I had

assumed. Was puzzled why the rotors would not fit, until I measured the

distance from hub face to knuckle face. On the 1992 D30 that distance

is 3.25". On the 2001 D30 that distance is 3.00". Gotta go buy new

rotors to replace my perfectly good rotors. Rats!

Rotors and unit bearings have to be the same year/style, as each other

I have a 99 HP housing with 2001 knuckles and calipers, and 91 unit bearings and rotors.

Older and newer rotors have a difference in the thickness of the mounting surface. That difference is made up by the older/newer unit bearings, not the knuckles.

So either get a new pair of rotors, or get another pair of unit bearings. Rotors are cheaper. However, your old rotors should work just fine with your old unit bearings.
