Window Roller Lubrication

Any advice on how to lubricate the cable/chain that runs from the handle to the window?

 

I can feel that the exterior facing side of the guide is open. My thought was to put some grease on my finger and attempt to stuff it in this opening.

 

Is there a better way or something I should use other than grease? Is there a way to lubricate the mechanism that attaches to the handle too?

window regs are made with plastic glides [lubaplate] but gear is a pain to lub but use turbo /electric motor oil works well [the one with a long spout ,sorry no brand ]
