I know there are members on here who live in the Chicago area so:

Thursday June 9th I need to go to Chicago in person to renew my passport. I figured I might as well make a weekend of it, but have never been there. So What are some of the places I should really visit while there?

Field museum for adults/kids. Museum of science and industry is good if you bring some kids. The mos&i is more kid friendly... If your into that kind of thing, you could also do the observatory on the Sears tower (now Willis tower) or the 2nd banana tower, the Hancock building. I'm not a real big fan of anything in particular though, the most I get into Chicago a year is usually once for the auto show in Feb.

I have another trip planned into Chicago this summer though. My best friend is getting married, and the bachelor party is going to consist of us hopping the train into Chicago in the morning, having a few beers in the city, then take the train back home. The plan is to stop at every station all the way home, find a bar and have a beer at every one. Its a good thing we are the last stop on the line, we might not even know what a train is when we get that far.

I have to be at the Consulate General of the Netherlands on E Wacker Drive/N Stetson Avenue early Thursday morning.

My appointment at the Consulate will take an hour at most. I plan to be in town two days, but can make it three if I have to, so opposite sides of the city are no problem. No kids either, just me, my MJ with a cap on the bed, sleeping bag and air mattress in the back. Sears Tower is definitely on the schedule.

My mom just did the same thing (Off the boat German). I think when she was down there she walked Navy Pier and took in the sights. I am not big into ball games, but you could drive by Wrigley field, as its sort of a destination.

Museum of Science and Industry has a few cool exhibits, including a German U-boat you can walk through. http://www.msichicago.org/whats-here/exhibits/u-505/
