dana 30 axle u joint

Recommended Posts

I was just wondering if anyone has a good test for testing the u-joints on the front axle, Ive been hearing a clunk on the drivers side when turning hard left. Everything else is brand new in the front end....... I'm pretty sure its the u joints on the axle just want to know if anyone has a good test for them.

Once single clunk, or multiple ones in a row when moving?

If a single clunk I would suspect track bar or ball joints.

Good advice. Wish I followed it last weekend in my JK. Thought my suspension was unloading in some deep holes in the mud and snow. This is the end result when it didn't go so well anymore and I finally figured it out.

Gonna fix the D30 and maybe swap to the Comanche and get a Dynatrac 44 for the JK.

Its a single clunk in 2wd then in 4wd under load I hear quite a bit under load, o well I will just have to tear into it, and check it out.

Bad deal Meljr that sucks but where there is destruction there is creation!

My elusive drivers side "clunk" was the TB to frame mount itself.

Finally found it when I seen the wear marks around the bolt holes, looking up from the ground.

My fix, tightened the bolts then tacked both sides and verticals to the frame.
