nameless
i know this is depressing and you guys can hate me it's alright  my MJ has the 6.5" RockKrawler long arm lift up front and SOA in the rear i'm in the market for a newer 97+ XJ being that the short arms on the MJ were hacked off, i'm taking the long arms to the XJ, and i'd like to put as little money into it, what is my best way to go about putting short arms back on? weld on new drop brackets? i need ideas there also, i'll be swapping my axles from the MJ into the XJ and vice versa which would require new brackets for the axles because the leaf widths are different on the MJ to XJ correct? mj Mike
If you cut off the lower control arm mounts (from the frame side) , like i did there is no going back . Go to the junk yard, take a drill, center punch and drill out all the spot welds on the lower control mounts, they will separate from the frame. Take measurements off you 97 to place the brackets on the frame rails of you MJ. Then, weld all spot holes. For the rear you are correct, the leaf width is different between MJ & XJ. You will need to weld on new spring perches. Unless someone else know of someone who makes after market frame side lower control arm brackets on a short arm kit ??
