Windshield Removal

Recommended Posts

Anybody know of an easier way to remove a windshield, to re-install, than the ol' carefully working a knife, saw blade around the edge until it's loose? I find it hard to believe that in this day and age of modern miracles, and solvents, that there isn't a easier way. :help:

Tried an open flame once and never tried it again because of the smoke. Never even thought of a heat gun. Besides getting grumpy an forgetful in my old age, also getting senile. Thanks Pat, I'll try it. Jim

no problem. I just did one yesterday.

you need 70 degree heat for at least 24 hours after installing the windshield. it would be nice to have it warm already before you do it, too...the rubber glue comes out easier then.

Thought. How do you use a heat gun in a JY? No electricity. I'll just work a hole in it and make do with the piano wire.

fully charged 12v battery, and a power inverter.

...but, it's $30 for one if I pull it, or $50 for it if they do it. so, I let them do it and save the hassle.
