87Chief
I got a 1995 wrangler 2.5 valve cover to put on my Comanche. How can I do the CCV/PCV conversion? I only see 1 hole on the top for the valve cover... Thanks

Pete M
it a big hole or a small hole?
87Chief
Well I just looked it over again, and there is a small hole on the front on the side, and then a decent size hole in the back.
Pete M
shouldn't matter which goes where. as long as you can make the hoses reach without cracking them.
87Chief
I'm still trying to figure this out.. The plastic vacuum hose won't fit into the front hole... Will probably break... And the back hole. The big hose on the manche is too small for the hole on the valve cover. What should I do? Is there any kind of hose that I can replace the vacuum hose with? That's flexible? And for the other hose, from the airbox. Is there a replacement for that too? Thanks.
Pete M
when I did my, um, custom airbox, I just went to the parts store and found a size of rubber vacuum tube that fit the bill. might want to check the 'Help' section too for different sizes of valve cover fittings. 87Chief
I got a vacuum hose from oreily's, I figured out how much I need and where to mount, I just don't know what screws in to the front of valve cover... or the back...
Pete M
If I understand it right, one goes to the vacuum port on the intake manifold and the other goes to the filter box. One is in, the other out, and I imagine it doesn't really matter which is which. :dunno:
87Chief
Yeah but I don't know what goes in the hole.. Like what screws in it
Pete M
I'm not all that familiar with the wranglers, but on my 4.0s, both are rubber plugs with holes in the middle. Got replacements at the parts store in the "help" section. think they were listed as Ford parts. and the middle one is of course the oil cap. 87Chief
Yeah middle is oil cap, got that today. Where would the help section be in a parts store? The register? lol
Pete M
around here it's a few feet of isle dedicated to 'help' brand items. little random things like special bolts or plugs or window handles.
87Chief
Hmmm. Ok, thanks. I got it off ebay and the title said.. "AMC Jeep 2.5L valve cover" in the description it said it would fit 92-up. It did fit, but I don't know what the system goes to... Might contact seller and ask. Pete M
see the rubber plug in the back of my valve cover? that's what you need.
87Chief
Yeah, for the back, and I'm going to run the hose from the airbox to back there. Does it matter how much air gets into it from the airbox? Should I keep about the same amount of hose diameter?
Pete M
doesn't matter much, but typically the hose from the filterbox to the valve cover (the fresh air coming in) is larger than the hose running from the valve cover to the intake manifold (which sucks the bad fumes out and puts them into the engine to burn) But in the end, it'll be ok to have them the same size if that's easier to do.
