freakjeep93
i know this isnt a car forum but i need some help.yesterday me and dad took my dash apart to install a sub in my 1998 Hyundai elantra, and today i have no heat. my question is. is there anything in the back of the dash that controls if you get heat or not. i have played with the control on the heater box that the heat knob goes to and i still don't get heat even when thats turned to the maximum to each direction and still no heat. Automan2164
I'm no Hyundai tech, but I would start by pulling thing back apart and checking all the things you might have touched. Also check any fuses to see if you got a couple wires crossed and popped one. Rob L.

terrawombat
Might not need to pull the whole dash back out, but maybe enough trim pieces to gain you access to some of the wiring so that you can see if there is an obvious problem - like a disconnected wire. You say you have no heat, but is the blower motor running? Are you getting anything at ALL? Cold air? Or nothing? If the blower motor isn't running at all, sounds like a wiring/fuse issue. If the blower motor is running, but you don't have hot air, sounds more like a mechanical linkage issue. I'm assuming that because this is a Hyundai there is either a mechanical linkage or a vacuum operated switch that regulates the airflow around the heater core. freakjeep93
the blower is running. and I'm getting cold air. the linkage from the knob to the heater box is hooked up. and i can turn the heat control easily.and the control is turning the linkage at the heater box. i ahve crawled in there and actually mover the linkage by hand aswel and still no heat. Any valves on the the heater core lines under the hood that could be cutting off flow all flow to the heater core? When the engine is running and is up to operating temperature turn your heat on full blast and feel the heater core lines under the hood. Feel them up by where they go into the firewall. One of them should be hot. The other should be a little cooler.

I'd poke fun for putting a sub in a Hyundai, but I rolled with a 10" sub and a huge amp in my '95 Caravan in college.

On a '98 Hyundai Elantra? I doubt it. I'll see if I can dig anything up on the HVAC system for that vehicle.

terrawombat
I dug this image up that is supposed to be a '98 Elantra heater box assembly: My main concern would be that the vacuum connector displayed on the above picture is either disconnected or not properly connected or there is some sort of vacuum leak on it.
