Can intermittent wipers be added?

I desperately need to find a way to add intermittent wipers. I can find another MJ or XJ with the proper steering column stalk. What else is involved in getting it to run timed instead of constantly.

There is a black box you need that is located under the DS dash where your knees would be. All you do is simply unplug the wire harness from the column and plug this box in.

You also have to tear the column down and replace the multifunction switch. In the case of my '87 someone had replaced the switch with a GM delay and cruise unit but never put the timer module (black box) under the dash. They got 90% of the way there and never finished it :dunno:

So its all plug and play under the dash and then I rebuild the column with the delay stalk. Correct? How tough is it to pull out the column? I assume XJ parts work just as well as MJ?

You can swap in a XJ column or replace the stalk in your column.

Yes, that's a standard GM stalk. Pretty much any '80s GM car will work as a donor. The stalk just pulls out of the switch and then you have to disassemble the column to remove the switch. It's probably as much work to replace the switch as it is to swap the column...just depends on what you have available.
